What is AirPlay?
AirPlay is a proprietary protocol stack/suite developed by Apple that allows wireless streaming of screens, photos, video, and audio between devices. In this article, we’ll discuss its mirroring feature to mirror the screen from iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac to Apple TV or AirPort Express, or AirPlay-enabled speakers. There are two types of AirPlay devices that require screen mirroring, sender (computers running iTunes, and iOS devices running iOS 4.2 or later, such as iphones, iPods, and ipads) and receiver (AirPort Express, Apple TV and third-party speakers).
Use AirPlay to mirror iPhone, iPad, iPad, iPod touch screen to Apple TV
If you have some important data or interesting files you want to mirror to the Apple TV, you can use AirPlay by following these steps.
You will need:
Apple TV (second generation) or later; The latest iOS version on iOS devices
Steps to mirror the screen from iPhone, iPad, iPod touch to Apple TV:
Step 1: Enable the same Wi-Fi
Connect to the same Wi-Fi network on your iPhone or iPad. Also, connect the Apple TV you want to mirror to the same Wi-Fi.
Step 2: Open the control center
On devices like an iPhone or iPad, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Control Center.
Step 3: Mirror to the Apple TV screen
On the iPad, select the Apple TV you want AirPlay to play from the list of available AirPlay devices.
On an iPhone or iPod touch, tap the mirrored screen icon to find a list of available AirPlay devices, then select the Apple TV you want AirPlay to play.
